A new school for the Adult Literacy Program for the Aetas

*We just updated this page with new photos of teacher volunteers and their students using the newly built school donated by Project Malasakit and Group M Philippines.

This is a heartwarming news feature that aired on News To Go. It's about a group of old Aeta men and women who are taught to read and write by a heroic mobile teacher of DepEd's Adult Literacy Program for the Aetas of Porac, Pampanga.

As a show of support to this initiative, Project Malasakit decided to build a school for our indigenous Aeta tribe to honor the effort of true compassion and bayanihan.

Last June 17, 2012, ground breaking ceremonies was held for the school. The project is a joint effort of the Local Government of Porac, Project Malasakit and Group M Philippines who generously donated the funds to build the school.

Budget for the school is:
P120,000 (construction materials)
Labor costs are to be shouldered by the local government and thru the bayanihan of the Aeta

Included in the groundbreaking ceremonies are representatives from the LGU Mayor's Office; Project Malasakit; Deped Porac Pampanga; Sir Dave the mobile teacher; the local Aeta chieftain/Brgy Captain and of course the Aeta beneficiaries of Sitio Liplip, Porac Pampanga.
